Colt Rescues Willa
Match PointColt Rescues Willa brings his protective role to its decisive test: after preparing a vulnerable beachside rental against intrusion and responding to repeated alarms, Colt risks his own safety to save Willa. The rescue ends with both of them badly injured, turning protection from a system of cameras and guarded doors into a physical act whose cost they bear together.
Preparing the Rental
Colt’s unease begins before the attacks. Driving along Mission Boulevard toward the address Vic has provided, he sees houses built close together and set almost against the road—an arrangement he considers difficult to defend. His preferred alternative is a secure compound behind a ten-foot fence, ideally with a replica volleyball court. The rental’s beachfront setting offers convenience and a private court, but not the controlled perimeter he wants.
Once inside, Colt inspects the security system and decides to add cameras covering every entrance and the perimeter. The existing keypad locks are high quality, but he cannot know how many people have been given the codes or how often they change. After arriving, he finds four cameras with listening devices, including cameras in the basement and facing the volleyball court. They are part of the house’s security setup and have not been activated; Colt turns them on and routes the feed to his phone with help from Tyler Redmond. He also arranges for Luca and Anja to bring temporary exterior cameras and requests door sensors so arrivals can be monitored without replacing every lock.
These measures are practical but incomplete. The rental’s location and shared access make it impossible to establish the fortified compound Colt would prefer, while its existing equipment has to be checked and brought into use. The later rescue unfolds against this tension between vigilance and the limits of protection.
Intrusions and Warnings
The alarm system first proves its value when an alert wakes Colt: a person is moving around the front of the house, peering into windows and testing the doorknob. Colt dresses, leaves through a side door, and catches the intruder by surprise, getting him onto the ground with his arms zip-tied. The incident confirms that the danger is not merely hypothetical, even though the intruder’s identity and purpose are not established in this moment.
A later alert brings the threat directly to Willa. Colt tells her to stay away from the windows, remain in the room, and not leave because someone is trying to break in. He then joins Anja on the stairs and finds Luca downstairs; both have received the alert. Using the camera feed, Colt spots someone climbing over the fence around the volleyball court. He directs Anja to approach from one side and Luca to switch on the outdoor lights when signaled. When the person drops onto the sand, the lights flood the court, exposing the intruder to Colt and Anja’s drawn guns.
The alarm does not always identify a genuine attacker. Colt later assumes Tabby may have encouraged Mike to keep trying to get in, but Mike admits he was wrong and asks to be released. Colt judges him foolish rather than dangerous and has Luca escort him to his vehicle in the public lot down the beach. The episode distinguishes a suspicious breach from a proven lethal threat; the repeated alerts nevertheless keep Willa’s safety uncertain and Colt on guard.
Rescue and Physical Cost
The evidence establishes the rescue’s significance most clearly through its aftermath. Willa later sees Colt’s injuries alongside her own: her ribs are sore, and bruising covers her midsection, while his body looks as if he has tried to cut himself in half. She cries at the risks he took to save her. The injuries make the rescue more than a successful security response: Colt’s protection has required direct, bodily exposure to danger.
Willa’s recovery is emotionally mixed. She is in Colt’s arms and feels better than she has in ages, but relief exists alongside the wider losses and threats surrounding them. Her recognition of his injuries turns the rescue into a shared reckoning with what survival has cost. The scene closes not on an account of tactics, but on the battered pair’s understanding that they have both been placed at risk—and that Colt’s decision to save her has left its mark on them both.
